It would be nice to pretend these images were created in some exotic tropical location, that I was being menaced by sharks and stingers at the time, but the truth is I was standing among a crowd of tourists in Underwater World, a seaside aquarium. I still don’t understand why none of the other visitors were as mesmerised as I was by these other-worldly shapes and colours. The visitors were eating icecreams and chips and waiting their turn to be entertained by the sea-lion show, mostly indifferent to the limitless grace and beauty under their very noses.
