I collect textures. Not formally and systematically, but randomly and impulsively, simply because they are everywhere I look.

These are all simple, found textures – no, not ‘found’ – that implies that I was searching for them. These weren’t so much captured, as just noticed. Even these simple textures have shape, line, form, weight – so many compositional properties that are a by product of the accidental context they are in.

I particularly like the graceful parabolic high water mark on the beach, which we can see occurred just as a light shower had almost, but not quite, finished.
