I can’t even remember what the whole piece of disused machinery looked like, but I can recall being attracted to its wonderfully corroding surface. I took lots of similar pictures of groups of rivets because the underlying repetitiveness of these rusting circles fitted the frame nicely and provided a sense of scale and connection with all the other images, yet they are all so different. The flaking paint and rust patterns are like jazz improvisations against a solid bass and rhythm section. |
