The obvious connection between these images is that they are all about red objects with black shadows.
The two poppy images are just interesting compositions that I noticed early one morning on my east-facing veranda.
The other two are about the visual relationship between chairs and their chair shadows, but these have a more human dimension, too. The central cigarette butt, and the departed and presumably recently-seated smoker who left it behind are for me the real subject of one of the chair pictures. In the other one, I can’t avoid anthropomorphising the chairs and seeing it as an allegorical scene with a story. Why is that black chair there? Why has it gatecrashed the red chairs’ party? Why won’t the red chairs talk to it? |
