Get close and look harder. Isolate a detail from its context and it stops being part of something else and reveals its own unique character.
Both of the two water pictures in this group were taken on the same day at the same riverside fountain. The fountain as a whole is pretty ordinary, but I took dozens of pictures of the fascinatingly crisp and swirly reflections of office buildings, and almost as many of the same body of water cascading down a series of steps. Windows with figured glass panels are everywhere, and I like to look at the wonderful way the glass fragments and reorganises whatever is behind it. The image that looks like easter eggs caught in a fishing net is a detail of the fabric from a garment in a clothing exhibition. I have forgotten what the whole garments looked like. |
