Mangrove roots have fascinated many photographers, almost to the point of becoming a cliché. This small mangrove tree was quite isolated from its colleagues out on the sand flats of a North Queensland beach, but it seemed to be thriving and I liked the patterns that the sun made on the sand through its arching, marching, roots.
