I am not interested in ‘floral arrangements’, but individual blooms are wonderful unique sculptures. When you isolate any single bloom and really look at it, the subtle elegance of its structure and the delicacy of its details is simply amazing. I usually choose to use this simple composition to present each flower – basically a central circular object in a rectangle, like a Japanese flag – so that the subject is always the flower, and I can then quickly record any that I come across without having to think about how best to compose the image.
